Laboratory Grown Diamonds

In response to increasing interest in Laboratory Grown Diamonds, we have put together a collection of classic pieces, each one set with a top quality diamond that is the equal of the very best mined stones.

Every one of ours is independently graded as being at least E colour and at least VS1 clarity. All rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets are made to the highest standards using the the best materials (typcially 18ct gold with platinum settings, 18ct gold and for some items 9ct gold). We do not compromise on the quality of the settings that we use – all are made to the same exacting standards as our natural diamond ranges.

Our Laboratory Grown Diamonds are created in controlled conditions by one of two methods, carbon atom by carbon atom.

Now for the science! Some Laboratory Grown Diamonds are created by the HPHT method (high pressure high temperature) where a metallic solution containing graphite is heated at temperatures approaching 1600c and at pressures up to 80Kb. As the solution cools diamond crystals form. Some stones are created using the CVD method (Chemical Vapour Deposition) where hydrogen and methane are heated to form a plasma; cooling causes carbon atoms to deposit onto a diamond seed. Depending on their size and purity, our stones take from days to weeks to form before they are expertly cut to the very highest standards. They are identical to natural diamonds in every way – the only difference is that these stones have not come out of the ground.

The result is a diamond that is indistinguishable from its natural counterpart (using standard testing methods); it does not leave a scar a on the landscape and, best of all, does not cost the Earth. This makes top-end diamonds much much more affordable which means that they can be worn to be enjoyed.

Think of it this way: Glaciers are composed of water that froze millions of years ago; ice cubes in your fridge were created hours or days ago. Both are ice, they just formed under different circumstances.

So, sustainable diamond perfection then that doesn’t cost the Earth.
