Heraldic engraving has always been a speciality at D. Barker & Son. Over the years we have supplied signet rings with seal engraved crests to customers far and wide – as far as New York in fact! This particular signet ring is the latest in a series of rings supplied to a local family. It is a hand made example set with a cushion shaped bloodstone (the distinctive red flecks can be clearly seen on the dark green background) and has had the greyhound crest cut in to the surface. You can see that the crest has been engraved ‘in the negative’ – this is to ensure that when pressed in to sealing wax, the crest is in the correct orientation. This mirror image is cut entirely by hand and demonstrates the immense skill of the engraver.
All our gold signet rings are die stamped to add weight and density – this makes them perfect for seal engraving and all will last a lifetime and longer. Please do get in touch so we can discuss your requirements.
