Sometimes things just work out perfectly. In May we were able to help a customer acquire a beautiful diamond. She had been looking for the perfect diamond for some time and when the opportunity came up it was simply too good to refuse. The stone weighs 2.13 carats and is certified as being ‘F’ colour and VVS2 clarity so, as you can see, it’s a very special stone indeed.
Sadly though the mount that the diamond was set in was not in good condition. As you can see from the images in the gallery above the claws were worn, the side settings were dangerously thin, the setting edges to the baguette cut diamonds were weak and the shank was thin and had been poorly repaired in the past. Rather than patch up a ring that showed evidence of previous work this was the perfect opportunity to make a setting that truly did the diamond justice.
We started by hand making a new setting in platinum on a yellow gold underbezel with a complete 18ct yellow gold shoulders and shank – our customer also wanted the ring to sit alongside her 18ct yellow gold wedding and eternity rings. The setting is beautifully proportioned and shows the diamond off perfectly; the baguette cut diamonds have definition and show the centre stone off to it’s best advantage.
Our customer is delighted as she now has the ring of her dreams set with a beautiful diamond that is simply stunning.
